Overbeck’s, one of the most fascinating and exotic gardens in the Southwest; explore the banana garden, meander through the towering purple echiums or just relax beneath palms and soak up the spectacular panorama across miles of beautiful coastline and estuary. Continue your journey of discovery into the Edwardian house of Otto Overbeck to see his amazing invention – the rejuvenator, hear the giant (1890’s) music box and prepare to be intrigued by his collections. The perfect day out for families who enjoy exploring, or the keen gardener who wants to be inspired and excited. Note: The grounds are very steep in places.
Enjoy a freshly prepared sandwich in our tea room – a varied choice of locally sourced fillings, plus various soups, salads, cakes and ice-cream. Book a luxury picnic hamper or just relax by a warming fire. Visit the shop and take home some South Devon chilli chocolate, local preserves or souvenir.
Make the most of your day by joining a garden tour, learn more about our organic exotic garden. Find Fred the friendly ghost. Children’s trails available all year. Visit our ‘Hidden Histories’ exhibition that tells the story of ‘Sharpitor’, original name for Overbeck’s when it was built by Mr & Mrs Vereker, who, in memory of their son, killed in the WW1, offered their new home to the Red Cross Society to be used as a Voluntary Aid Hospital for the treatment of convalescent British and allied troops. View the many wonderful treasures and photos on display.
Various family and traditional events throughout the year - check our website or phone for details. |
