About Us

Come Sailing in the beautiful town of Salcombe , situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Salcombe Dinghy Sailing is a family run business with a dedicated team that’s all about making sure you have the best experience possible.

Ross and Zoe Crook have a combined 27 years experience in the Sailing industry – it’s their passion!

We are of course an RYA recognised Training Centre.

We offer Sailing lessons from one and a half hour lessons (July and August) for individuals and groups and half day or full day RYA Courses.

The RYA National Sailing Scheme has been designed to help you enjoy whichever aspect of the sport that appeals to you. All the courses in the Scheme can be taken in a dinghy or keelboat so you can have tuition in whatever type of boat you wish.

Boat Hire is available for experienced Sailors.

Our Fleet:

You can expect an excellent standard of boats with us.

Laser Pico

The Laser Pico dinghy is a small sailboat approx. 3.5m long, designed by Jo Richards in the mid-1990s and used primarily for training and day sailing. It can be crewed by one or two children or an adult. Our modern Picos come equipped with both a mainsail and a jib, but the jib is so small that it is faster sailed single handed using only the mainsail.

Versatile and great fun. Popular with sailing schools and families; the stable, versatile Wayfarer is a wooden or fibreglass hulled fractional Bermuda rigged sailing dinghy. It’s used for short ‘day boat’ trips, longer cruises and for racing.

Over 10,800 have been produced as of 2014. The boat is 4.8m long, and broad and deep enough to comfortably seat four adults. Longer trips are undertaken by enthusiasts, notably the late Frank Dye who sailed W48 ‘Wanderer’ from Scotland to Iceland and Norway, crossing the North Sea twice.

We keep ours within the Estuary, where families, adults and children enjoy safely sailing around the hidden bays, or nipping along when the breeze is up.

The Drascombe Lugger

Potter around or seek adventure

This lovely boat is still as immensely popular as at its introduction at the Earls Court (London) Boat Show in 1968.

The Drascombe Lugger is the epitome of rugged simplicity, reliability, and seaworthiness in an open boat. It is equally at home pottering around with the kids or undertaking more adventuresome expeditions.

Our boats are always popular for weekly hire. These are also our preferred boats for Royal Yachting Association Keelboat Courses.

Fleet Size : 1

Minimum 2 persons

Perfect for RYA Keelboat Courses and Family Taster Sessions
