South Devon Family & School Holiday Fun
Don’t miss the Overbeck’s National Trust Museum & Exotic Gardens Easter Egg Hunt, which packs in Easter bunny hunts, quizzes, trails and fun activities for all ages, plus you’ll see their world famous Magnolia Campbelli in full bloom!
A locals’ favourite is the Easter Saturday Fun Day at South Pool with Duck Race, BBQ, Easter Bonnet Parade and Hunt the Easter Eggs for children all set in an amazing little spot on the estuary.
Another fab Easter treat is the SHOP LOCAL EASTER EGG HUNT, run in Association with Kingsbridge & Salcombe Chamber of Commerce and Salcombe TIC. There are 200 eggs to give away so pick up an entry form from our Salcombe TIC HQ on Market Street and go hunting for our local shops displaying the ‘SHOP LOCAL EASTER EGG HUNT POSTER’ in their window. Then just complete the form and return it to Salcombe TIC to collect your free Easter Egg!
Forest & Beach are running an Easter Forest day (£25) and one with Archery (£30) packed full of fabulous outdoor fun for your kids!
Fire lighting, shelter and den building as well as exploring the woods and get-togethers around the fire pit for hot chocolate, marshmallows and a bit of outdoor cooking!
Located on an organic farm a mile Beesands beach (east of Salcombe), drop off is at 9:30am with pick up 3:30pm. Your kids will need to dress according to weather, with warm layers and waterproofs recommended and wellies if wet (send them along with a packed lunch too) required.
Paper Bird Island on Island Street is decorated like a magical island and will captivate your imagination! It’s sure to leave you and your kids feeling relaxed and inspired and is the perfect wet weather destination or just a lovely place to spend a couple of hours whilst making something beautiful to take home. The kids will love it and so will your inner child (if allowed to play!). It is also an ideal venue for birthday parties.
For an Eggstreme Easter then it’s off to Woodlands Family Theme Park, where your kids will love the Easter Bunny’s Grotto complete with giant carrot baking, real bunny-beds and mysterious Chocolate factory.
Travel through a land of chocolate heaven, take in the stunning views and see the magic of the world of Easter before meeting the Easter Bunny himself in the UK’s first and only Chocolate Easter Bunny’s Grotto. Woodlands Easter Bunny’s Grotto is the first of its kind in the UK where customers will experience an eggstra special egg-counter with the one and only Easter Bunny… The fun loving Chairman of Chocolate. Visitors will be asked for a small charge to gain entry into the GIANT Easter Bunnys’ Grotto which will be open throughout the April school holidays.
Or if real-life bunnies and animals will go down well then Pennywell Farm is a fantastic place for all the family. Free half-hourly activities, animal petting, Easter Egg Hunts, family entertainment and plenty of super-cute Spring babies to spot across the farm are all included in the price of entry!
Of course, if you just want to enjoy some free outdoor adventures then the South West Coast Path cuts straight through Salcombe, so dust off everyone’s walking boots and head outdoors (psst…it’s also a great way to help your kids burn off plenty of energy!!)
Discovery Surf run their fantastic Discovery Surf Camp where parents drop their children off in the morning and collect them later. Yep, you read that right!!!
The kids will spend the day enjoying everything from Surf lessons to flat water work, raft building and lifeguard skills. It’s an amazing experience for all, where you can enjoy Bantham and Thurlestone beaches, or pop over to Burgh Island for a pint and bite to eat while the kids enjoy themselves! The Thurlestone Hotel or The Sloop Inn are both fantastic for a top up too.

Bantham Surfing Academy offer supervised surfing sessions & a whole range of kids surf lessons for all abilities at the beautiful, unspoilt Bantham beach near Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Bigbury.
It’s the perfect way to introduce and let the little ones experience the thrill of surfing in a fun, fun, fun and safe environment! Also, all equipment including board, full length well fitting wetsuit, and boots are provided free of charge as part of the lesson. How’s that for value?!
They also offer some great Stand Up Paddleboard experiences if you fancy dropping the kids off but heading into the water yourselves!
